Writers' Trust Fellowship
Start date: 25 November, 2015
End date: 22 November, 2017
Intended to free three top-tier Canadian writers substantially from financial concerns and provide a window in which they can work with as much creative freedom as possible, the Writers’ Trust Fellowship comes with an award of $50,000. In total, three Fellows will be announced over three years, culminating in Canada’s sesquicentennial and a total of $150,000 distributed to Canadian writers.
Nature of the Project Reach
The Writers’ Trust of Canada welcomes nomination letters from the general public. Who is eligible? · All writers working in the categories of fiction, literary nonfiction, poetry, or literature for young people, who have a strong publishing track record and whose upcoming publications are eagerly anticipated. · Nominees must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents writing in English. · There is no age criterion. The Fellowship is not intended as a lifetime achievement award or as recognition for a single work, and writers will be considered without regard to commercial success or whether or not they have been or are likely to be recipients of other literary honours.
The program is intended to draw attention to contemporary Canadian literature and stimulate interest in an author's future projects. The Fellowship celebrates and supports the work of leading Canadian literary voices and encourages their discovery.
