Walking Tour, Towards Truth and Reconciliation in Brooke
Start date: 1 November, 2016
End date: 1 July, 2017
Develop a walking tour of significant Indigenous locations in Brooke, access through way finding markers, sculptural markers, and audible historical storytelling through QR codes.
Nature of the Project Reach
The project is significant for all tourists, local residents, French and Indigenous visitors, for youth and elders.
Our focus is to INSPIRE a deeper understanding of our community and our country by creating a walking tour of five significant indigenous landmarks in Brooke, also known as Nawash Village in Owen Sound. Our goal is to provide five Indigenous stories in English, French and Ojibwe on a journey towards truth and reconciliation. Symbolic way finding markers as well as sculptural markers will designate each site. A tour pamphlet will be developed.
