Virtually United: A Virtual Reality Experience Celebrating Canada's 150th
Start date: 1 May, 2017
End date: 15 December, 2017
Virtually United is a virtual reality experience that brings to life events and historical figures that shaped the Confederation of Canada in 1867 . Upon wearing virtual reality headsets, participants are immersed in a simulated narrative that tells the story of the confederation through animated characters and 3D environments. Participants are able to interact with the environment and learn about the cultural diversity in each region of Canada and key political/historical figures that played a role in uniting a nation. This is not your ordinary history lesson!
The experience will be available in both English and French.
Nature of the Project Reach
Virtually United experience will be portable in nature and will be set up in different locations as part of a booth. There will also be a website component. Depending on available funding a mobile phone version of the experience can be developed such that users can download and enjoy the same experience anywhere using their phones.
Objective of this project is to celebrate Canada and its history on this 150th anniversary of the Confederation through participation and community involvement. Virtually United will provide a platform for participants, from diverse backgrounds, especially tech-savvy youth to learn about the history of Canada and our shared heritage.
We are looking for funding to be able to expand the scope of this project to make it accessible to more Canadians. We also need partners to help us find and set up prime locations to attract participants. For more information please contact atefeh.ca
