The Official App Of imagiNation 150
Start date: 2 January, 2017
End date: 31 December, 2017
In partnership with the non-profit imagiNation 150 we are gifting to Canada a branded app for Canadians to celebrate our diverse national character for our sesquicentennial. This app will become part of the larger 'parent' Culture Dock app that will allow Canadians to not only celebrate our own culture but to show it off to the world as the app scales internationally; it will be a lasting legacy of Canadian multiculturalism. The imagiNation 150 app will officially launch on January 2, 2017. Canadians can download the app for free from both the App Store and Google Play by searching 'imagiNation 150'. With it, we are encouraging Canadians to share their local regional culture. For example: Landmarks & Geography, Sport & Leisure, Nature & Wildlife, Customs & Traditions... onto the app's twelve cultural channels. Whatever is unique about where you live or a place you're visiting in Canada over the next year is what we want to see on the imagiNation 150 app. We also hope to see users engaging and asking questions of fellow Canadians on the app to learn more about one another and to bring us closer together despite difference.
Nature of the Project Reach
As a free social media app this project is available to any Canadian in the country with a handheld device.
To have as wide a representation of Canadian cultural diversity as possible on one centralized platform; for Canadians as well as companies and organizations in culture and tourism to share regional culture while being excited to learn about aspects of our country that may be unfamiliar. With the imagiNation 150 app we wish to honour First Nations, Inuit and Metis cultures and hope to have a robust presence from these communities represented on the app. We have partnered with the Native Women's Association of Canada (NWAC), making them our non-profit of choice with the intention of facilitating donations for this organization. Our goal by the end of 2017 is to be able to 'show off' Canadian multiculturalism with the rest of the world as the 'parent' Culture Dock app scales and to allow visitors to our country to engage with Canadians and to learn about what it means to be Canadian, for all Canadians.
We would like to invite any 150 alliance members to download the imagiNation 150 app and upload photos and/or videos of their project onto the app (onto our 'Holidays & Festivals' channel). Apart from images taken directly of their projects, we would also like to encourage them to share cultural content throughout 2017 from the regions they are in or are travelling to. We intend to bring attention to their initiatives through our social media channels and hope they too will share the app and the idea of our entire country sharing regional culture on one centralized platform for our 150th.
