The Hub 150 at Prospect lake
Start date: 28 February, 2017
End date: 31 May, 2017
Power To Be's Hub 150 at Prospect Lake sees the renovation, construction and furnishing of an accessible, welcoming outdoor patio space for participants, family members, volunteers, donors and other community participants to be able to connect, build community, encourage one another and inspire the Canadian mosaic of diverse people to all spend time in the great Canadian outdoors.
This space will build and reinforce healthy communities because Power To Be works with a wide range of individuals and community groups and this space will be the focal gathering place for everyone. Power To Be's Hub 150 at Prospect Lake is where myriad empowering experiences will occur: newcomers will unite, family members and peers can watch, program facilitators and volunteers can commune and where we can all relax in nature together.
Nature of the Project Reach
Although the premier focus of Power To Be's Hub 150 at Prospect Lake is Community and Provincial, the overarching impact of the entire Prospect Lake project has national impact as the work Power To Be does impacts all Canadians with barriers to accessing the great outdoors to discover their limitless abilities.
The overarching goal is to construct an accessible, welcoming, outdoor space for all Canadians to enjoy. In 2016 Power To Be acquired the lease on this past golf course to be reimagined into a hub for accessible, inclusive, recreation, education and celebration. The space requires considerable work to bring it up to this level.
Power To Be’s Hub 150 at Prospect Lake includes, but is not limited to, establishing a long-lasting, welcoming, and comfortable outdoor patio space with heaters, bbq, and furniture that is accessible and longlasting.
At present, the sloped path leading up to the space is not up to accessibility codes and the patio is in need of a significant overhaul. This space will inspire Power To Be participants, family members, staff, volunteers and the broader community as a space where all people can meet, watch and enjoy time in nature.
