Sharing Our Gifts
Start date: 3 October, 2016
End date: 28 February, 2017
A video documentary about cultural resiliency as an Aboriginal children's dance group learns the dances, songs and the teachings that go along with them. There will be a brief overview of the history of colonization and the resurgence of culture we see today. It is a story of healing and reconciliation; acknowledging the past and hope for the future; and sharing our traditional values and the gifts found within our traditions.
Nature of the Project Reach
The video will be offered to schools, faith groups and Aboriginal organizations throughout BC.
To show the strength and resiliency of Aboriginal culture; to facilitate dialogue and learning across cultures about our history and the present-day impacts of that history; to invite others to join in our healing journey. These goals will be accomplished by showing the video within local schools, at inter-faith and cross-cultural meetings and events and to the general public.
