The "Rock on the River Festival Celebrates Ontario and Canada's 150" is an outdoor ticketed, weekend event from Friday to Sunday to celebrate a the talent that our province and country has to offer. There will be a variety of music from local talent to having a few Canadian headlining popular band brought in to attract tourists to Timmins and encourage community pride with the event. Activities include an outdoor stage with live music, food vendors and musicians. There will be entertainment during the day that consists of musicians, family activities and performers and community groups demonstrating their offerings. In the evening, there will be local bands of different cultures (First Nations, Francophone), and a headlining popular band that will draw tourists and encourage residents to attend an event locally. This is a family friendly event that will have something that will interest anyone! Everyone is welcome!
Nature of the Project Reach
We are hoping to reach out to outlining Northern Ontario cities and towns and also to Northeastern Quebec. We have a reach of 300kms that will attract people from driving distances. We are expecting people from Chapleau, Foleyet, Gogama, Hearst, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, New Liskeard, Englehart, Kirkland Lake, Val D'Or, Rouyn Noranda and Sudbury.
The goal of this project is bring back community pride by celebrating our provincial and national 150th birthdays with diversity and inclusion. By having an event that celebrates all cultures and backgrounds this will make event goers feel welcomed with their families and friends. We are hoping to attract different community groups and cultures to showcase their art and cultural products and services to help them economically. Also this gives an opportunity for local and national talent to showcase their music at an outdoor event.
We are willing to collaborate with an organization or several organizations that have similar needs. We would like an organization that has expertise in putting on similar events. We need organizations that are multicultural, that attract youth, that are open to arts and culture. We are looking for funding to help put on this event.
