Our Canada 150 project involves developing a permanent exhibit that will represent Abbotsford's diverse history. Focusing on five topics, the exhibition will educate and entertain the community, and allow the visitors to learn about the City and its people.
Nature of the Project Reach
Our target audience is mainly school groups and senior groups, locals, and of course, tourists from both in and out of Province. We expect to reach no less than 2000 visitors annually.
Our goal is to help the visitor support their identity as a member of a community that they can take pride in. By educating them about the community's history through the historic artifatcs and interpretive text and images, we hope to give each one of them a feeling of ownership of their environment, a sense of roots and belonging, in order that they feel that Abbotsford is "home", a place to take pride in.
We are always looking for partners to collaborate with on programming, research and special events with historic contents. E.g. we'd like to host an opening reception for our exhibit, develop a sponsor wall and develop a research program focusing on the five topics included in our exhibit.
