Peace Pole Garden and labyrinth

Prepare and pave an area of our property for a painted labyrinth which will be open to the public and surrounded by Peace Poles (four sided poles bearing the words "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in a different language on each of the four sides. We will invite members of every cultural and language group in our city to participate in preparing and planing these poles, decorated with their cultural emblems and language. In addition a Peace mural will be commissioned for the exterior wall of our building adjacent to the labyrinth and Peace Pole Garden
Nature of the Project Reach
This project will be easily accessible to the residents of Nanaimo (approximately 100,000) and adjacent areas of Vancouver Island. In addition, Nanaimo is an extremely popular tourist destination and visits to the project by tourists would be significant
Creation of a beautiful community space celebrating Peace in Canada and in our World where residents and visitors to the community can walk the labyrinth, meditate and reflect upon our Canadian values and our relationship with all the peoples of the world. We will particularly encourage participation from the youth of various cultural traditions, and particularly including First Nations youth in the creation of the design.
