O Canada Visual Arts Workshops for children and families
Start date: 1 May, 2017
End date: 30 September, 2017
Arts Umbrella is dedicated to providing high-quality arts education to the children and youth in our community. For Canada’s 150th anniversary, we would like bring our young citizens together to celebrate through a series of visual arts workshops taking place in the spring and summer of 2017.
A handpicked team of Canadian artist-instructors and their assistants will host workshops that will engage and inspire youth. The team will visit community events throughout Metro Vancouver and share their knowledge of practices of famous Canadian artists, while engaging participants in creating their own piece of art with high-quality supplies. Children will take home their own interpretation of these artists’ work, and learn to see themselves as Canadian artists.
This project will be open to the public, aimed at children and youth, and will provide opportunities for them to participate and celebrate together while providing a deeper understanding of Canada.
Nature of the Project Reach
Workshops will take place in the Lower Mainland of Vancouver, including: Vancouver, Surrey, Langley etc.
We expect to host six of these workshops through the months of May to August of 2017, and reach 2,000 children and youth.
We are looking for additional funding for this project, which could go hand in hand with offering it at more locaitons.
