Spring performances 2017: “Note-ably Canadian”
On April 7 and 8 2017, Pandora's Vox Vocal Ensemble Society will perform music that evokes the many aspects of Canadian life, engaging the audience in musical imagery about inspiring and unique qualities of life in Canada. Drawing on local talent, the concert will include reflections on the diverse people, geographies and history of West Vancouver and other places across Canada.
Nature of the Project Reach
. Two choirs, Pro Arte dancers, and 10 musicians will be involved, with an age range from 13 to 80, led by artistic director Gillian Hunt. Well-known local personalities will help paint the musical portrait of the Canadian experience. New arrangements of Canadian music will be commissioned to perform at the concerts. As part of our community outreach, we will provide complimentary tickets for people in financial need. Families and people of all ages will enjoy new Canadian choral works as well as iconic Canadian folk songs, with a shared theme of understanding our country and its future through artistry of music and choreography. 85 multi-disciplinary performers interact with audiences totaling 900. The geographic reach is generally the Greater Vancouver area, although audience members may come from across Canada and from other countries.
The goals of the project are to recognize the diversity of Canadian communities through a multi-media, live music experience that relies on participation of all generations and backgrounds.
