Nos voix sont encore fortes/Our Voices are Still Strong
Start date: 25 March, 2017
End date: 25 March, 2017
Written and performed by members of the AFRL, the play traces the journey of ten women aged 30 to 65, when they rediscover and celebrate the French language and culture by telling their stories, singing and dancing. English surtitles will be projected on the big screen behind the actors. The piece highlights several themes which the public will surely identify, such as maintaining family ties, diversity, and the importance of a warm welcome to newcomers in the community. The show takes us to laugh, learn, celebrate, reflect and act. All actors are amateurs who grew up in the francophone communities in Manitoba, Northern Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick. Some live in Red Lake for over 40 years, while others have arrived recently. The play is directed and choreographed by Jenny Daigle, a recent graduate of Rosebud School of the Arts in Rosebud, Alberta. Jenny grew up in Red Lake and has played in numerous productions.
