Start date: 9 January, 2017
End date: 1 May, 2017
Music Monday is a program of the Coalition for Music Education in Canada - Music Makes Us. Music Monday is a nation-wide celebration of the power of music in our lives, especially our schools. It's the only national celebration of music that actively engages children and youth where they live in their schools and communities. This year, Music Monday will take place on May 1st with celebrations across the country, and a national Showcase concert in the National Arts Centre. The Showcase Concert will be livestreamed in order to lead a simultaneous singalong from coast to coast to coast of the Music Monday Anthem - Sing It Together.
Nature of the Project Reach
Classrooms, music programs, community and national music groups learn the Music Monday Anthem in order to sing at the same time across time zones on Music Monday - a nation-wide simultaneous sing-along!
- to connect music makers of all ages, backgrounds and genres in a celebration of the power of music in our lives
- to provide information about the value of quality music programs in our schools
Music Groups, schools, youth groups, and more can register an event and join the nation-wide celebration. Learn the Music Monday Anthem - Sing It Together. The music is free to download from the website. It is available in several choral and instrumental arrangements, as well as many languages (French, Ojibwa, Sign language, Spanish, Michiff, Gaelic, Italian, etc.)
