I've Not Always Been Canadian
Start date: 10 January, 2017
End date: 10 January, 2018
I've Not Always Been Canadian project will gather 200 refugees and immigrants over four belonging storytelling forums. Dialogues will focus on the question "What makes you feel Canadian?". Participants will share stories of arrival and settlement to create a healthy space to discuss what it means to "belong" and to be "Canadian". Select stories will be translated into portrait to give broader meaning to the idea of being Canadian. A final launch will present the images on 25-30 banner stands. Banner stands will be a community resource.
Nature of the Project Reach
200 immigrants (both recent and those settled) residing in the CRD will participate in the project. Interactive Photo Launch Event anticipates 100-150 participants. Upon completion of the project, the photo essay banners will be available for use in the community providing further reach.

Immigrants residing in the CRD of all backgrounds are invited to attend. Launch event will be open to the public.
