Participants will receive 24 hours of instruction, and post-workshop support includes one-on-one coaching and mentorship which will greatly increase participant’s probability of success.
Nature of the Project Reach
Participants in the series of workshops will be examples to other immigrants and refugees in their local communities of how to build a successful business.
The project is the Entrepreneur Training Workshop that provides immigrants and refugees with the ability and knowledge to start a business in Canada. These newcomers often experience difficulties securing employment and fully integrating into the economy. However, they possess strong entrepreneurial spirit and the potential to greatly contribute to the local economy. The goal of the workshop is to increase their participation in the economy thereby building a more vibrant and prosperous community within a broader multicultural business landscape.
The Immigrant and Refugee Entrepreneur Training Workshop will:
• Enhance business productivity and competitiveness of immigrants and refugees in Victoria
• Assist the participants in accessing information, training, and business advisory services
• Increase the participation of immigrant-owned small businesses in Victoria
• Increase the branding of Victoria as a multicultural business hub
• Support the development of networks and alliances of immigrants in the local economy where we all get to share knowledge, new ideas and technologies.
As a result, we will ENCOURAGE the participation of immigrants and refugees in community activities and events in Victoria and we will INSPIRE a deeper understanding of the entrepreneurial drive and potential of the immigrants and refugees that shape Victoria. As such, we will BUILD a vibrant and financially healthy community of people from many different countries, races, and religions finding new opportunities and a better way of life in Victoria.
We are always happy to recruit new mentors for the participants once they start their businesses. Mentors would be people with business experience and skills.
