"ICS Goes West" Dinner Theatre
Start date: 12 September, 2016
End date: 28 January, 2017
On January 27 and 28, 2017 ICS performed a Dinner Theatre entitled “ICS Goes West” featuring songs of the pioneers and early settlers. Songs like Buffalo Gals, Old Dan Tucker, Cotton Eyed Joe and many others gave the audience an appreciation of what life was like for those early pioneers in the ‘wild’ west! Ending with “This Land is Your Land” (Canadian version of course!), the audience came away with a renewed pride in our great country. The show was held at the Elm Hurst Inn, Ingersoll, which provided the delicious meals. Our 60 member choir, along with three volunteer actors and one extra musician on violin, put on a rollicking performance that was very much enjoyed and appreciated by three sold out audiences.
Nature of the Project Reach
Our audiences were largely drawn from the local community - which includes all of Oxford County, but we also had guests from outside of our local area - Kitchener, Brantford, London, etc.
The goals of this project were:
1) To build community spirit and enthusiasm for our great country of Canada in this, its 150th year
2) to increase the choir members’ musical abilities
3) to entertain and inspire our audiences
4) to raise funds which go toward balancing our annual budget and allow ICS to perform our Good Friday Concert with no admission fee
