Honouring 150 Years of Exemplary Women
Start date: June 2nd, 2017
End date: June 2nd, 2017
The Women's Centre of Halton will be hosting a luncheon to honour the contributions of local women to our community and country. This luncheon will include a multimedia presentation highlighting the stories of women of the past, as well as honour living exemplary women. Members of the local community, including school groups, will be invited to attend our event Honouring 150 of Exemplary Women. While women may have been excluded from much of history, we are making this effort to fill in the gaps and show all of the important and interesting ways that women make a difference.
This event is going to be held on Wednesday, June 2nd from 12-2pm at the Harbour Banquet and Conference Centre, 2340 Ontario St, Oakville. Get your tickets at https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/celebrating-150-years-of-exemplary-women-tickets-31511278081 (for students, use the code STUDENT) or call The Women's Centre of Halton at 905-847-5520.
Nature of the Project Reach
The immediate reach will encompass the people who attend the event. However, we also expect that those who attend will share what they learn with their friends and family. Together, we can educate ourselves and our community about the importance of women's contributions to history and beyond.
Our main goals are: to educate the local community about the contributions of women over the last 150 years; to honour those women who are currently making a difference in their community; and to inspire the younger generation (girls and boys) with the life stories of these exemplary women.
