This project will partner with the City of Summerside residents, community council, business owners, school and youth organizations.
The project is based around the restoration of the historic Summerside Ice Pond but will also incorporate the history of the watershed as a whole. The goal will be to educate the public about the restoration that is taking place and gain input from local residents. The presentations will be done mostly by the BBEMA staff but will have input from the Department of Fisheries, the Department of Fish and Wildlife, The City of Summerside and local business owners. This projects end goal is to restore the Ice pond to its former glory allowing for recreational fishing during the summer, outdoor ice skating during the winter and a small trail system to encourage outdoor activity all year round.
