Historical Mural for Canada's 150th
Start date: 1 June, 2017
End date: 1 July, 2017
We are planning a high-quality professional mural which would give a sense of the history of the Regal Heights neighbourhood. Elements would include a recreation of what the area would have looked like when it was still the Bull Family farm in the mid-1800s. This would blend into a scene from the time when streetcars began running through the area. Streetcars still run along St. Clair Ave. today and are a defining feature of the area.
Nature of the Project Reach
This mural would be enjoyed by area residents, but we also hope to attract people from outside the area. This would benefit local business and increase the desirability of the Regal Heights area.
- to popularize and deepen understanding of the history of our area
- to engage residents by increasing their knowledge of and interest in the community
- to beautify the neighbourhood and discourage graffiti
- to help make the area a destination, which would benefit local businesses and help add to Regal Heights' reputation as a desirable area to live
We welcome advice from other associations who have done similar projects. What are the potential problems? What should we know before getting started? We would be happy to share our experience once the project gets underway.
