Nature of the Project Reach
All are welcome to attend Happy Hour for Diabetes. Join us as we have a Canadian celebration for a great cause!
Proceeds go towards the Saskatchewan Children’s Camp which has opened its doors to children living with type 1 diabetes in Saskatchewan for over 55 years. This is the only camp of its kind for young people living with type 1 diabetes in Saskatchewan. Children learn diabetes management supported by program staff and peers. Campers meet with the camp health-care team multiple times each day to review blood sugar patterns, prepare their carb choices for meals, adjust insulin doses for activities and manage fluctuations. Overnight, each camper’s blood sugar is tested by a team of health-care staff who help treat lows and correct highs. At camp, diabetes management fits into the day as naturally as a jump in the lake or an evening campfire.
