Freedom to Grow
Start date: 1 January, 2017
End date: 31 July, 2017
"Freedom to Grow" is a youth leadership project connecting youth with Canada’s unique history of immigration. The project will incorporate various activities where youth will work closely with elders and civic leaders to gain insight into the immigrant experiences of previous generations.
Nature of the Project Reach
The project is based in Guelph, Ontario.
To encourage youth to explore the impact of immigration on Canada’s social fabric, encourage civic engagement; promote pluralism in celebration of Canada's 150; and reflect on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s recommendations to promote a deeper understanding of indigenous peoples among newcomers.
