Start date: 1 September, 2013
End date: 31 August, 2017
Explore150 serves to highlight the relevance of Canadian culture and history to provide an opportunity for youth in Canada to explore and connect with their identity and values in an interactive way.
The content is chosen and created by young Canadian leaders who wish to inspire others to discover local sites and engage with others. Users will discover that we, as Canadians, share many of the same values - something to celebrate as we near our sesquicentennial anniversary.
Nature of the Project Reach
Explore150 is a national, youth led effort to collect and connect our stories as we approach our sesquicentennial anniversary. Through digital platforms, in person events, and a national network of Canadians, we are collaborating to convene a national conversation about where we have come from, where we have found ourselves, and where we are going together.
As we gear up for Canada's 150th Anniversary, our goal is that Explore150 will host a community of young people who want to learn more about Canada and our important sites from the perspective of other young Canadians.
Through the use of the Explore150 mobile and desktop platform, users are encouraged to explore how their personal narratives and experience feed into our collective Canadian identity. Sharing with others and connecting to fellow app users will enrich their understanding of themselves and strengthen a sense of attachment to places of significance across Canada.
We are looking to connect with:
- National, regional and local networks who are looking to engage youth Canadians with culture, nature and history.
- Site Partners, who wish to promote their youth engagement opportunities through our national platform.
- Individual young people who are interested in mapping their community, sharing their perspectives with others, or leading an activity for their peers.
