Cow Over Moon presents Indigenous Stories
Start date: 2 January, 2017
End date: 30 June, 2017
We will be hosting the presentation of Indigenous stories in Mississauga, created by an Indigenous cast and crew, based on traditional stories of the Ojibway peoples, for whom the Mississauga area was a traditional territory.
Nature of the Project Reach
Our show is designed to present fresh insight into Canada's heritage and especially the rich culture of Indigenous people. It will also empower young Indigenous theatre professionals to express themselves artistically. The narrative of the show will be developed through a joint creative process that enables all participants in the show to develop their individual characters in a creative re-telling of an Ojibway tale
Our show will be a showcase of the diversity of Mississauga’s community. By highlighting
Indigenous stories we will demonstrate the powerful impact of diversity in making Mississauga a
home to everyone. Because we plan to have an all-Indigenous cast and crew, we also will be
creating opportunities for these individuals to demonstrate the benefit of diversity.
We will be collaborating with the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation and Peel Aboriginal Network.
