Community Food Forest
Start date: 1 March, 2017
End date: 30 November, 2017
A community food forest is an arrangement of mainly edible plants on public property that is planned, planted and cared for by members of the community with the resulting edibles available to everyone in the community. It is carefully planned to mimic a natural forest so that it will require minimal maintenance once established.
Nature of the Project Reach
The project reach is Greater Sudbury.
We hope to embark on a pilot project in the spring of 2017 that will lead to the establishment of Sudbury's first community food forest. We are very interested in finding partners who would like to help make this happen!
An organization with charitable status would be a great partner (we are registered as a non-profit). We are also in need of people with gardening experience and especially anyone with expertise in permaculture. We're open to ideas and potential partnerships with other groups who might be hoping to do other types of projects based in parks or other public land.
