Chorfest: United in Song - Celebrating Canada's 150th
Start date: 19 May, 2017
End date: 21 May, 2017
Victoria & The Linden Singers of Victoria are privileged to host Chorfest 2017: “United in Song – Celebrating Canada’s 150th”. Community-based choral singers from all over BC gather every year at Chorfest for a high-energy weekend learning interesting and challenging repertoire with nationally renowned clinicians. Choristers are split into adult, young adults, youth and children with individual clinicians leading weekend activities.
To celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary, we will feature Canadian and international works
representing our theme, United in Song. Inclusion of Native drum song/greeting and a Canadian
composition from Tobin Stokes – based on a native greeting is planned.
For Chorfest 2017, we intent to provide an exceptional experience by working with the Victoria
Symphony Orchestra in our celebration of Canada’s sesquicentennial, thus inspiring the
participants and audience to experience a heightened awareness of Canada’s choral music
The weekend culminates in a final concert held at the UVic Farquhar Auditorium.
We aim to make the final performance accessible to everyone to engage as many members of the community as possible. Therefore, admission will be offered by donation.
