Canoe Joint-Canadian Undergraduate Programs
Start date: 23 June, 2014
End date: 31 August, 2016
Canoe is a social innovation for Canada's Sesquicentennial: a platform for "degrees for Canada". Canoe will facilitate the creation of Joint-Canadian Undergraduate Programs (JCUPs) offered by consortia of universities across two or more provinces. Students will travel together with their class (cohort) to complete their degree together at three or more different universities - from coast to coast to coast. They would also complete summer experiences in the community, public and private sectors.
Canoe is a 21st century institution of lean design that will add a high-impact, low-cost layer of social and educational infrastructure to develop future leaders in a variety of fields from all walks of life. These emerging leaders will guide the future nation-building efforts of our bicentennial in 2067 and will better connect Canada to the world.
Nature of the Project Reach
This will require the collaboration of stakeholders university, public, private and community sectors across the country in order to bring into reality.
We hope to develop a pathway, by 2017, for the implementation of the first canoe programs.
We are looking for potential collaborators to help co-design the delivery of this initiative.
