Canada's 150th Celebrated in Music by 150 Young Canadians
Start date: 10 June, 2017
End date: 10 June, 2017
In collaboration, the Guelph Youth Singers, the Suzuki String School of Guelph, and the Guelph Youth Music Centre will bring 150 youth together to strengthen our sense of community and community spirit through music. Music is a universal language through which we can communicate across cultural and linguistic boundaries. It has the power to evoke deep feelings at the core of all shared human experience. Our event will demonstrate the diversity of our community and the promise of our youth as we celebrate Canada’s 150th.
Nature of the Project Reach
We will engage people from across Guelph, and the surrounding areas.
1. Shine a spotlight: on 150 years of our great country; on 150 students who will come together in a celebration of music and song; on the diversity and inclusiveness of our community; on the promise of our youth.
2. Create an event which brings Canadians together, strengthening our bond and sense of national pride.
3. Showcase young musicians performing traditional and classical Canadian and non-Canadian music.
4. Create an opportunity for a young audience (children and youth) to participate in the arts through early childhood music workshops, and a petting zoo.
