Canada let’s get moving – you are only a 150

The SSCPN will work in partnership with our various community group members and individuals that provide a fitness program for older adults : Such as Exercise programs that offer daily one hour work-outs for older adults, Gentle Yoga, Dance exercise, Zumba , Line Dancing and tai chi We will add greater effort to promote these activities by hosting free demonstration of the classes, offer added support to our partners so they class cost are affordable. Host a display tent during the South Shore Canada Day event with information on the programs along with added material -videos from Participaction 150 program for public viewing. We will even host a exercise session at our community Respite center so Frail seniors can take part . With our CISSS Montérégie and McGill Centre on Aging partner will host health information lecture sessions on Nutrition, Bones and Joints, Medication , Brain Gym were professionals would be invited to speak. We have asked Canada Summer Jobs program to provide students to assist us in preparing and running activities for various age groups ..Our Goal is to insure as many Canadians even older one take part in the ultimate Play List and get moving this 150th
Nature of the Project Reach
The South Shore Community Partners Network –works closely with various partners that serve the Montreal South Shore English-speaking community We already promote and encourage older adults to take part in various activities involving excise and wellness . We host classes in Gentle Yoga and Tai Chi. We have hosted a Stand Up fall presentation program with the CLSC Champlain. Currently we partner. McGill University Centre on Aging and Health Canada-Santé Québec to promote community wellness in our community. McGill provides Health professionals to come to our activities. We are accredited by Ville Longueuil to use public space without charge and carry insurance Through Canada Summer Students we have requested students to assist with preparing our 150 activities. The SSCPN has a large base of community members and volunteers. We serve as a community contact network for over 40 organizations and host various Social media networks.
Participaction 150 is planning to encourgae Amazing Events To take Place from Coast to Coast to COAST. We want to make sure that our Community is part of this program. We want Seniors to find their favorite way to get active, Have Fun try different ACTIVITES AND enjoy themselves with both old and new FRIENDS. We also want to increase personal knownlege about health issue and prevention “ This we as a important way and means for particapaties to stay involded and encourage others after the project official ends . The SSCPN has signed up to the Participaction Play LIST, so our project and 150 play list activities will be part of this national movement to get Canadains up and active because after all we are only 150
