Canada & Ontario 150 Party in The Park
Start date: 24 June, 2017
End date: 24 June, 2017
The Canada and Ontario 150 Party in The Park will bring together 2,000 Canadians on Saturday, June 24, to enjoy and experience the diversity of music, talent, culture, food and creativity in Regent Park. This outdoor carnival-style event will be produced by Regent Park School of Music (RPSM) in collaboration with many community partners. The Big Park and many other locations in Regent Park will be animated with exhibits, workshops and performance areas with everything from a musical instrument petting zoo to culinary delights from local women’s collectives. Over 100 young music students from RPSM will take part and the Party will also host the Premiere Concert of 8 original songs about local kids’ lives and Canadian stories.
Nature of the Project Reach
The Party will bring Torontonians and beyond to Regent Park, reducing the fear and stigma that has often been associated with this area. It will shine a light on this healthy, burgeoning community to celebrate Canada's 150 in all its diversity.
Our goal for the event is to further build on the revitalization of this vibrant multi-cultural community where people work, play and thrive. We will also engage 8 local youth associates to help coordinate the event to inspire and encourage them, and introduce the "new Regent Park" to fellow Canadians - in person and through extensive media coverage.
