Battle of the Atlantic Memorial
Start date: 28 April, 2017
End date: 7 May, 2017
To mark Canada's 150th Anniversary, the NAC - London will be hosting a series of events to commemoriate Canada's Contribution to the Battle of the Atlantic. The cornerstone event will be the parade, dedication and Gala Ball to unveil the Memorial being built on the Grounds of HMCS Prevost, in London. The parade and gala will be held on Saturday April 29th.
Nature of the Project Reach
The Governor General, Prime Minister, Lieutenant Governor as well as several cabinet ministers and members of the Royal Canadian Navy's Admiralty have been invited. Veterans from across Canada will be invited as well. Further, members of Canada's Navy from across Ontario will be participating in the parade and dedication. Citizens from across south western Ontario are expected to attend and participate in the dedication and gala ball.
We wish to commemorate the sacrifice and victory of Canada's Naval Forces during the Battle of the Atlantic. To date, no memorial of this scale exists to honour the contributions made by Canada. We would like to honour our veterans and educate Canadians on the importance of our Navy, with the memorial, and an ongoing educational legacy which will be hosted on line for everyone to see.
Our Project Needs assistance in creating awareness of this national memorial, and may require volunteers on April 29th 2017 when it is dedicated.
