Art tree Project
Start date: 1 January, 2016
End date: 31 December, 2017
The Art Tree Project is a creative initiative in which families, schools, businesses and groups can come together to create their own Art Tree masterpiece.
Each completed Art Tree will be owned by its creators and proudly displayed at their participating community's Art show during Canada's 150th Anniversary Celebrations.
The image of the tree relates to our national logo of the maple leaf and is symbolic of our Canadian landscape. The Tree unites us all as Canadians.
Each of us has roots in our country, schools, faiths, businesses and organizations. We grow and branch out as human beings within these community groups.
The Art Tree Project is an excellent way to commemorate our fellow travellers through life with whom we work, learn, worship and play.
Nature of the Project Reach
This project engages any group within a community to creatively express their theme, uniqueness, name and heritage on the Art Tree print. This creative activity stimulates artistic development and provides a sense of accomplishment. The act of being a part of a group creates a sense of belonging. Sharing your group's history and culture creates a sense of pride. The act of entering a group's Art Tree creation in a community Art Show as part of their town's Canada 150 celebrations creates a sense of participation and inclusion. Viewing other groups' Art Trees can stimulate awareness, conversations and interaction between individuals and groups that have not previously had the opportunity to engage with each other. To know that your group and town is connected with other groups and towns through a nation wide Arts and Culture event gives all participants a sense of national pride. The connections and creative experience that the Art Tree would inspire could have a lasting effect in a continuance in community and creative involvement.
Imagine every town having an art show where the connecting image is a tree, yet no tree is the same, each tells a unique story, and no matter what age,
ability or background, each participant is the artist!
Every group has a unique heritage and a story to tell.
Your group can be your: Family, Workplace, School, Church, Team, Club or Organization.
Your group’s name, logo, and history can be depicted in as many variations as your imagination and skills will allow.
The Art Tree Project welcomes any groups and individuals to incorporate this project in their celebrations of Canada's 150 and would love to partner with any groups and individuals where similar vision is shared.
