2017 Guelph & Wellington Youth Symposium
Start date: 15 September, 2016
End date: 30 June, 2017
A one day Youth Symposium for up to 1,500 Grade Eight students and their teachers from Guelph and Wellington County in April 2017. Since 2009, over 9,000 students have benefited already.
Key messages include: You can be the change! It only takes ONE to make a difference! Step outside your comfort zone and try new things! Find the HERO inside! Contribute your Voice”.
We can’t prevent “bad choices” by youth and we cannot remove them from a negative environment, but there is an opportunity to help and support youth during this very challenging time by exposing them to positive and constructive messages, and providing them with tools and strategies, while inspiring and challenging them to make better choices.
Nature of the Project Reach
The Youth Symposium is for up to 1,500 Grade Eight students in Guelph and Wellington County.
The Symposium’s goal is to inspire and better equip students with ideas, tools and strategies that enhance their ability, motivation and confidence to cope effectively with their daily challenges and opportunities as they enter high school, a key point in their development. This will help them to make better choices in their life, and to grow to become better citizens and contribute to building a healthy community they live in.
