Start date: 28 October, 2017
End date: 29 October, 2017
A special display of 150 rocks, minerals, and fossils from across Canada, each with a unique story. Examples might include fossils of scientific importance (Burgess Shale), mineral deposits that have been or are of economic value, rocks of historic importance to Canada, and stones that have been worked by the human hand for practical or artistic purposes. As a whole, the display will tell a unique story of Canada through stone.
Nature of the Project Reach
Reach out across Canada to obtain rocks, minerals, and fossils, and stories for inclusion in the display.
Collect 150 rocks, fossils, or minerals from across the country and tell a unique Canadian story. Involve collectors, artisans, and mining companies. Educate the public as to the many important and often underappreciated attributes of rock and their importance to Canada's history and identity.
Open to ideas on which rocks, minerals, and fossils should be included in the display, and loans for items to display.
