150 Pointes of Canada
Start date: 1 January, 2017
End date: 31 December, 2017
The pointe shoe is ballet’s most universally recognized symbol. To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday and The National Ballet of Canada's 65th anniversary, 150 pointe shoes will travel across the country, spanning all provinces, territories and landmarks.
The National Ballet of Canada will partner with organizations, community groups, schools and individuals across the country to take ballet’s icon, the pointe shoe, to some of Canada’s most recognizable landmarks to foster connections across the country. Participants will photograph their pointe shoe on location and the images will be shared by the National Ballet on a dedicated page on our website, on an interactive map of the country and through our social media channels throughout 2017.
Nature of the Project Reach
The project will engage and build relationships between The National Ballet of Canada and organizations, schools and individuals across the country through a shared love of dance. The photographs created and collected through this project will be shared online. Anyone can connect with the project by posting their own photograph on social media using the hashtag.
